This humble cowboy casita began life as a carefree 1950’s travel trailer that came to Hillsboro and decided to put down roots. Close to the great Gila Wilderness and both Caballo and Elephant Butte Lakes, we are flanked by ghost towns; the tall pines of Kingston, the foodie town of Silver City and the healing hot waters of Truth or Consequences. You’ll love the plush linens, coziness, and the views. Our place is a great launch pad for outdoor fun- whether a couple or solo adventurer.

The space

Our casita is SMALL but mighty. It has a wooden porch, a double bed, one chair and place to stash luggage. There is a bathroom with a small separate shower, sink and potty. There is a curtain that closes off the bathroom but no solid door. Our grounds are lovely and we encourage our guests to wander about. Smoking outside only please.

Guest access

The casita is just off the patio of our main home. There are several outdoor sitting spaces and you are welcomed to explore. We currently have four chickens and two dogs, Remy and Copper. We ask that you please be mindful of the gates, closing them behind you. Your casita is private and has a key. Plenty of parking around the property and room to lock bicycles, etc. inside the gate. As far as cell phone service goes – we are famous for our “limited connectivity” in Hillsboro. Service is not generally available in town, but a quick jaunt up the hill usually rewards you with a cell signal.

Other things to note

Our favorite cafe opens on Main Street at 8 am with coffee and a great breakfast and lunch. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE TO GET FOOD IN TOWN and they close at 3pm. They are closed on Wednesday and Thursday. You might want to bring a snack if you will miss them. Our wine bar is open Thursday through Sunday and you can grab a glass and a nosh there as well. We close at 6pm but usually extend hours Fridays and Saturdays when busy. Tennis court and library are next door, old courthouse and jail ruins a short walk. Concerts happen at the community center once a month or so as does the library bake sale. Pickers circle is usually on Main Street every Saturday morning and Cindy sells local vegetables, honey, flowers and eggs. THERE IS NO CELL PHONE SERVICE IN TOWN. Did we mention that this is a great place to unwind and unplug?
